Scars are reminders of when life tried to break us, it Failed! Never be ashamed of a scar. It simply means you were stronger than whatever tried to hurt you. I feel a manatee is the perfect example of this. These beautiful creatures mean no harm to anyone, yet continuously getting hurt and still prevail.
I cannot even begin to fathom the story this gorgeous soul has to share. To have boat propeller scars across its face and body. I was visiting ZooTampa in the underwater viewing area and throughout a pool of rescued manatees, this one came swimming straight to me. I took a few photos and then set the camera down putting my hand to the glass and it put its fin and head right where mine were. An experience and connection I’ll never forget. I am so thankful it is being given the proper treatment, rehabilitation, and hopefully soon be released back to the wild.
